The Circle Bench was commissioned by the municipality of Woluwe St Lambert. A bench, which was to decorate the small square on which the Flint II has already been installed since November 2020. Faced with the flint and its reminder of the Paleolithic with the first tools made by man, I needed a symbolic object, perhaps to be geometric and minimal in order to encircle in a whirlwind all this long history that links us with our distant past but essential to understand who we are today. The circle bench, open has a raised, refined part which is maintained in levitation, like a blade, its dynamics is its speed of rotation, it determines the infinite circular movement of the world.
Le Circle Bench est une commande de la commune de Woluwe St Lambert. Un banc, qui devait venir agrémenter, la petite place carrée sur laquelle est déjà installée le Flint II depuis novembre 2020. Face au flint et son rappel du Paléolithique avec les premiers outils fabriqués par l’homme, il me fallait un objet symbolique, peut être géométrique et minimal afin d’encercler dans un tourbillon toute cette longue histoire qui nous lie avec notre passé lointain mais essentiel pour comprendre ce que nous sommes aujourd’hui. Le banc cercle, ouvert a une partie relevée, affinée qui se maintien en lévitation, come une lame, sa dynamique est sa vitesse de rotation, elle détermine le mouvement circulaire infini du monde.
